The report highlighted the various strands of work being undertaken to identify the key implications for the Council arising from the Localism Act which had received the Royal Assent on 15 November 2011. A template was presented providing a framework for consideration of the measures which might impact on the Council under the four main headings of: new freedoms and flexibilities for local government; new rights and powers for communities and individuals; reform to make the planning system more democratic and effective; and reform to ensure that decisions about housing were taken locally.
The Cabinet resolved that:
The approach being adopted in relation to the Localism Act, as set out at the Annex to the report, be endorsed.
Reasons: As set out in the report of the Management Team.
